Yay. It's back. The 15th French Film Festival officially kicked off last June 3 at the Shangri-la Cineplex. Admission is free for those planning to watch it, just be sure to be there a few hours earlier. It's on a first come first served basis. Since there's a serious drop in Hollywood summer blockbuster films coming out this week, the festival is such a welcome relief for movie buffs like yours truly.
Planning to catch this two rather polar opposite film.
1. L' Amor c'est mieux a'deux (The Perfect Date) - "Michel dreams of the perfect encounter, one that happens completely by accident like the way that his parents and his grandparents met. Meanwhile, Vincent has only one thing on his mind: sex. Friends from childhood with diametrically opposed views about women, they discover the limits of their respective reasoning when they meet Angèle and Nathalie." - Spot.ph
I didn't understand a single word! :O
Screening schedule: June 3, 7:30 p.m. June 7, 6 p.m. June 10, 9 p.m.
2. L'Immortel (22 Bullets) -"Charly Mattei has turned over a new leaf and left his criminal past behind. For three years now he has been leading a peaceful existence dedicated to his wife and their two children. However, one winter morning, he is left for dead in a parking lot in the old port of Marseille, his body riddled with 22 bullets. To everyone’s general astonishment, he doesn’t die. Based on real facts, the story has been reinvented within the Marseille gangster underworld." - Spot.ph
Screening Schedule: June 10, 12 noon June 12, 6 p.m. June 13, 3 p.m.
June 10, 2010 Update: Finally saw L'amour c'est mieux a deur last night. It was absolutely hilarious. Nothing mind boggling, in fact it had a refreshingly simple plot, but definitely a very well made romantic comedy film. Truly must-see. The line was 3 loops long but heck it was worth it. I feel bad for the people who were waiting outside the cinema hoping to still get in despite tickets being sold out (mga chance passengers daw)
