This is the start of something new...

You can't remember the title of the song..but these lyrics and the melody for it has been running through your head for a couple of days now...(you think you heard it from the o.c. or something)

So you are officially on solo flight

April 9 2008. Decided to book a hotel room in tagaytay for a month. You have been told that you will have to stay in cavite for a good four months, thank the universe that your distributor is just 20 minutes away from Tagaytay - saves you the horror of finding a decent place in dasmarinas (you're going to be away - it might as well be as province-like-un-manila-ish as possible)

You couldn't have dinner the past two days. Blaming your parents for this. You suddenly realized you're this paranoid schizo who's afraid to hail a jeepney at night to go out to town. So you snack on whatever junkfood is available at your room - yeah could have ordered dinner from the hotel - but hey you're talking to a certified cheapo here nevermind if your company will pay for it (you only find the rationale of spending on books, clothes, bags, bags and even more bags)

April 10, 2008. It was with great shock that you discovered you forgot to lock your hotel room while you were sleeping last night. Sigh...

April 11, 2008. Finally decided to grab dinner. Took a bus so that you can go to a jollibee or something equally unhealthy. On the way to jollibee - you spotted a 7-11 - decided that it's about time you learn to cook for yourself - so you bought 4 cup noodles. (baby steps everyone, baby steps!!)

It's interesting to say the least - the last couple of days - you have been riding/hopping onto the truck and going around every nook and cranny of Silang province. You love that you get to have conversions with all these sari-sari store owners - all of which you would never have had met under normal circumstances. And yes - you have officially hit your quota of tambays asking for your hand in marriage.....when will they learn!?! there is already a manong in your life. (you wish all the ogling happens elsewhere - it's seriously making you question your target market nyek nyek nyek)

You have officially entered day three - but already you're feeling that heck maybe all the ranting beforehand was a bit premature. You are kinda loving the whole idea now that you are finally able to "live alone". From being able to scour new places in Tagaytay to finding joy in discovering you can hack it on your own afterall. From the 7-11 which is a good 15 minute walk from your place, you decide to forego the jeepneys for some much needed exercise. Nevermind if you crank your head side to side every 5 seconds - just to make sure no one is following you. Sorry - you might be on the first few steps to pseudo independence but paranoia is here to stay for awhile.

Note: In just a few hours, Norvin will pick you up to meet up with some of his friends and have drinks somewhere here in Tagaytay - gone are nights alone in the hotel!

  1. Jake, I miss you!! :) Hahaha natawa ako sa "marriage proposals from tambays".. From one lousy cook to another, you should also try making sandwiches and salads.. No cooking necessary and healthier than cup noodles... :)
