BSG Fanatic Alert

I finally got Dear Hubby to watch Battlestar Galactica! *Hooray*  For months now, piles and piles of BSG dvd's have been sitting by their lonesome self, unattended in our game-room, waiting for that fateful day when Dear Hubby finally succumbs to his silly wifey's pressure.  That or take pity on the pile that's starting to accumulate dust from neglect.  Either way was acceptable to me.

And THAT day has arrived, when silly blogger is no longer the only one in our household to understand the meaning behind the words: Frak, Brig, Starbuck, Caprica, and Number 6!  He's still in episode one but I'm seeing signs of early addiction syndrome developing.  I've considerably mellowed from the BSG pow-wows while trying to ease him into the whole BSG phenomenon.

The timing couldn't have been more perfect as well.  Because after months of chasing after the BSG gameboard in Hobbes and other toy shops, I was finally able to get a hold of a set last March. I (literally) had to pry it away from some random stranger's hands.  I know I sound way too geeky, but I promise BSG rocks!

Can't wait to play BSG!
Need to "bribe" girl friends.

And my obsession continues...

I'm a huge American Idol fan.  But this season, the talent seems to be drying up.  Maybe it's the news that Simon will soon jump ship to another singing competition show, maybe it's the nerves, or maybe after 9 seasons, A.I. has made stars out of all those deemed with potential and the well of "IT" guys and girls have finally seen its end.  Whatever the reason may be, last Tuesday and Wednesday nights performance was a little rough for me to watch.  Save for the absolutely adorable-crushable Casey James who IMHO outsang even Brian Adam's himself with his honest/sincere rendition of "Heaven"

The Hubby has given me permission to swoon and openly declare Casey James as my second husband.  Thank gawd I'm married to someone who knows just how delusional I am and still loves me. Hee

The Greyone Social Experiment

Hellz Bellz shirts!

First spotted them at the Archeology section in Rockwell Powerplant Mall. Now they are also being sold in Greenbelt 5. Awesome! A bit pricey for T-shits but nonetheless I love them! Gives the average T-shirt/jeans combo a bit more edge.

Current Obsession: Philipp Tampus

Team Philipp! Posting his finale collection... I'm loving the very feminine detailing. Flowy with just the right amount of frou-frou. Check out how he was able to modernized crochet... Pretty neat!

Finally!! - Project Runway Finale

Rushed home, despite the usual Kick Off meetings during Wednesday. All to watch the finale of Project Runway Philippines. So... I was wrong, Philipp didn't win (sad face). Darn it, I wanted him to win so badly. He always had the IMHO the strongest designs. And his finale collection was very strong as well. He was able to make crochets look hip and modern. Yes even made me want to wear a crochet swim wear in Boracay.
But yes, he didn't win instead Aries was declared the very first Project Runway Philippines winner. In terms of the collection unveil, I must admit that Aries had the strongest collection, maybe not in terms of cohesiveness (umm hello, orange finale dress?!? Where did that come from) but in terms of production value. He has a great gasp of what will make the audience tick.

Exhibit 1. I thought it was weird when the model in the center first enter the runway. The dress was definitely an odd ball in the context of Aries' collection. But when the two other models entered and they all stopped mid center for "The Transformation", I had a feeling Aries had a 95% chance of winning (for sheer production value)

Exhibit 2. Yes! That dress in the middle was "transformed" into this three piece wardrobed. Very futuristic eh.

Exhibit 3. Hair, make-up - check

I really hope PRP gets picked up for a second season!!!

Current Obssession: Black Stockings and Plaids

Ok, so I haven’t been able to do an outfit post for awhile – yes, even lil ol ms vain me gets embarrassed once and awhile. Now that my brother has been sent off to Davao for work – I have no one to bully to take my photos. (Asking the maid is just out of the question – as she always has this smirk whenever I get out of my room – I sense judgment!)

Dear Fiance is now my official blog photog, here are some outfit I wore during the week.

WORK OUTFIT - White Polo Shirt: Regatta, Jumper dress: Dorothy Perkins, Black Stocking: SM Department Store Shoes: VNC

Finally got to wear plaids!! I’m loving this Fall trend. Good thing I don't live in Scotland - otherwise this would be something men wore during a wedding or dance ceremony.

Couch Potato Series: One Tree Hill

I just finished season 4 and 5 of One Tree Hill. Yes that's what insomnia can do to you. I used to like One Tree Hill, nevermind that its plot revolves around the lives of the seemingly feeling tragic drama teens. It was able to hold my attention for the past two season and darn it if I start letting go now.

Spoiler alert:

One thing that I liked about Season 5 is that they skipped the entire college years. We all know that teen shows that started in High School always end up with disastrous scripts once they move on to college (case in point: Dawsons Creek, The O.C.). Its just not possible given the dynamics in the States, for all the main characters to still be going to the same school once they finish High School. So instead of that ackward scenes where you as the viewer squirm at your seats wishing they did not do this sacrilege to your once darling show - S5 fast forwards to their lives months after college graduation. Haley and Nathan are with a this adorable 4 year old kid, Nathan's basketball glory days are behind him due to a stupid accident, Lucas has become a full-time writer with a new fiance, Brooke is now a glorified Paris Hilton, only with a more successful clothing line and Peyton well, somethings never change..Peyton is still pining over Lucas.

That's the only thing that drove me to pure frustration. If you watch all 40 plus episodes on one go..you get pretty much solved that puzzle piece of how Peyton's mind work. - Big drama queen who thinks tragedy will befall her anytime. And she keeps on stealing Lucas back! Damn it! I want an original storyline please. That episode run the first and second season already - I had to sit through to more new seasons of that! I always hate the lead female character in teen shows, because for some strange reasons writers seem to want her to be neurotic, chasing after someone with a boyfriend in the guise of "first love never dies" syndrome. Blech!

My future SIL has taken the task of downloading S6 of One Tree Hill, I'm hoping based on S5's cliff hanger that Lucas DID not picked Peyton.

Fashion at the 2008 Emmy Awards

One of the things i look forward to during awards shows is the red carpet arrival of the stars. At this year's Emmy's they did not disappoint. I'm loving the fact that the major crowd drawers are now parading around in gowns by the more cutting edge designers. Of course the classics will always remain but this year found a good mix from the two.
My top two fave gowns as worn by Vannessa Williams

I love love this Elie Saab gown worn by Marcia Cross. It has all my favorite elements working for it: the tulle, the lace flowers, the complete gily girl statement.

What's on Television: Gossip Girl S2

It's GG time once again. I love the show. I know I'm way beyond high school years but seeing the fashion on the show always makes me want to wish i was studying in that preppy school in NY. Hmm or maybe just that filthy rich that i can afford Channel's all around. So far i have been able to catch the first few episodes of the latest season (courtesy of my future SIL) here are some note worthy appearances:

What she wore during the White Party

Little J, still grounded but defintely bringing her A game

Blair worried that the Lord might think she's too much of a commoner to meet The Duchess

Current Obssession: S/S 09 Luella

Lately i have been fixated with wearing girly girl dresses. And i must say after seeing Luella's S/S collection i couldn't be any happier. This season, Luella has launched what i thought was her best to date, with quirky ensembles splashed in cotton candy shades. There's frills, laces, tulles, and yet she still made it look feminine yet proper (not too much frou frou going around)

The Notebook Lovers
Yey! They're back together! And i am totally adoring her headband :)

Monday, August 4

I'm currently obsessed with....

Gladiator sandals came out last season as one of the "it" shoes of the moment... But i have a feeling i would wear this even as the trend comes to an end. They just make your feet looks so pretty and femme!! And it doesn't hurt that it matches my current favorite top from Tyler...
